ABUNDANCE ON GENERAL COMPLEX MANIFOLDS

Resumen: Let X be a compact Kahler manifold of dimension n and let K be its canonical bundle. The abundance conjecture says that the Kodaria dimension of X is equal to the numerical dimension of K If true, this provides an equality algebraic and cohomological objects. In this talk we will produce an example of a non-Kahler manifold on which the abundance conjecture fails. Our example is an echo of earlier ones of Ueno, whose relevance to this conjecture was somewhat overlooked since the abundance conjecture hadn't been made when they were constructed. We will start by a quick discussion of the abundance conjecture and its place in complex geometry. Next we will review a few details of the geometry of Kahler manifolds with trivial canonical bundle, then construct the examples themselves and prove they have the required properties.

ENUMERATION OF COMBINATORIAL OBJECTS CLOSELY RELATED TO THE DIAGONAL COINVARIANT SPACES OF THE SYMMETRIC GROUP

Resumen: In this presentation, we talk about combinatorial objects that are closely related to the diagonal coinvariant spaces. These spaces are indexed by two positive integers: 1) the number k of sets of variables and 2) the number n of variables contained in each set of variables. They are representations of the symmetric group S_n. I will give the precise definitions of these spaces, give a bit of history about them and why they are interesting. The rest of the talk will be mostly about enumerative combinatorics and we will present some of our results in this direction.

Resumen: Los q-bosones constituyen un sistema de partículas cuánticas en un espacio de Fock caracterizado por operadores de creación y aniquilación satisfaciendo relaciones de conmutación tipo q-Heisenberg. Analizamos el espectro del Hamiltoniano y calculamos el operador de scattering explícitamente usando el principio de la fase estacionaria.
